Fitch "Forever Young" June 16. 2006 - March 5, 2007
Fitch fought his potential abductors and by doing so he saved the life of his brother Abercrombie. Unfortunately Fitch could not recover from the injuries he received from these cruel and heartless people and he succumbed.
Fitch lost his battle for life on March 5, 2007 at 11:56pm at the University of Georgia. Rest in Peace Dear Brave Fitch... For you we will continue to fight!!!

Mission Completed Goal Exceeded!!!It was a time I will never forget and we plan to making it an annual event. From here on forward Black Friday will no longer make me think of shopping or leftover Pumpkin Pie. I will think of the look in the eyes of the horses that were saved from a horrible death and I will always remember the despair in the eyes of the ones we could not save. For them, we will continue our mission ...and not stop until the slaughter of our beautiful horses is stopped.
We were able to save 82 horses from going to slaughter and our work is just starting. Eight of the Eight-two horses have had to be humanely etuhanized. We knew when we bought some of the horses that they would most likely have to be put down. That is why we have the "Die with Dignity" fund and we felt these horses would not be able to endure the transport. Apparently their owners did not care enough and a cruel tortutous death at the slaughterhouse would have followed the agonizing transport, that is, if they were not trampled to death in transport. That is the thanks their owners gave to these horses for the years of dedication, loyalty and service they gave. IN the end, these horses died knowing love, a fully belly and a gentle touch.
We were only planning on saving between 30 to 35 horses, that is what we had budgeted for and had raised funds for, but once we got there we could not say no... so many in need, so many looking at us for help. This was their last chance. There woudl not be another auction for any of these horses, there woudl not be a second chance. Their next transport was to the slaughterhouses in Mexico. It just had to be and we just needed to do it.
So yes, now the hard part is ahead of us. Our hay and feed bill is $1983 every 10 days for the new horses alone. That does not include the ones that we already had. That does not include any supplements, vet bills, shots, specialty feed, etc. that is the basic 10% feed and hay every 10 days. Our vet bill to date has exceeded $6400, that does not include Ebony , who will need surgery.
Please continue to spread the word I want to thank everyone that is helping in every way. I also want to say a special "Thank You" to the Secret Santa's that made this a very special Holiday Season for these horses. This is a long journey but we will make it together!!!Thank you to all the individuals, rescues and organizations that are helping. Please donate if you can, if you cannot, please spread the word.

Congratulations Pretty Johnnie / Freddy and Dreamer / Sydney You all did great last night and we are so PROUD of you!!!.. Pretty Johnnie really had a great time and seems to love the Western Games. She has only been doing this for a week and she did GREAT!!! She even placed 5th out of 26 horses in Hairpin. The past years have not been the best for Pretty Johnnie. Many people have forgotten about her and no one really took the time to get to know her .... she is a phenomenal horse with a heart of gold. We will never forget about Pretty Johnnie and if it means she remains here forever, then this will be her home. She is a very special mare who just wants someone to love her for the special girl she is and be that "special horse" to someone. Freddy and Johnnie did fantastic and Freddy did wonderful working with her this week. This was all Freddy's doing. She is a very gifted young girl and we are so happy she is part of Pure Thoughts. Pretty Johnnie is pretty smitten with her Freddy. Dreamer and Sydney did awesome!!! Although Dreamer seemed to make is apparent he did not like getting muddy....he sure knew his run back to the finish when he was done. He did great and Sydney did a FANTASTIC job working with him this week!! Dreamer was rescued from going to slaughter during the Home for the Holidays rescue mission over the Thanksgiving Weekend in Sugarcreek, Ohio!!! Both horses are available and ready to find their forever home!!! GREAT JOB GIRLS!! THE HORSES THANK YOU FOR A FUN SATURDAY NIGHT!!! |
