Fitch

Fitch fought his potential abductors and by doing so he saved the life of his brother Abercrombie.
Unfortunately Fitch could not recover from the injuries he received from these cruel and heartless people and he succumbed. Fitch lost his battle for life on March 5, 2007 at 11:56pm at the University of Georgia.
Rest in Peace Dear Brave Fitch... For you we will continue to fight!!!

This section is dedicated to the horses we have had to say good-bye to and to their owners, who even up to the final breath showed their faithful friend love compassion and respect.

We commend these people who have allowed their horses to die in the arms of love rather than the hands of torture. Forever your horse shall remain in your heart until the time you meet again to run through the green grass as you once did.

To these people we say our heart felt sorrow for your loss and we celebrate your decision to:

Let them be born without fear
Let them live a life of peace
                         and when it was time.
Let them die as they have lived fearless, painless and peaceful.

In honor of your faithful friend we will rescue a horse, yearling or foal to memorialize your loved one and let his or her legacy live on in the heart and soul of another.

Rest In Peace Sweet Bobby

You were named in honor of greatness
and you were loved by many...

This is Bobby, he is the beautiful colt in the lead of the herd, he is a nursemare foal, he was sponsored by and saved by Team Barbaro through Last Chance Corral.

While playing with his friends Saturday afternoon, Bobby fell over and died. We are not sure why it happened, he was fine and then he was gone, no sign of sickness. My guess would be a congenital condition. He has been taken to the University of Georgia for a necropsy. Bobby will not be left there. He will be brought home and buried . Bobby did not need to die.. he was the victim of the nursemare foal industry..Bobby was loved by many and will remain in our hearts. I am so sorry for your loss Team Barbaro

Her Name is Sky

Well, the new filly went to her "forever home" last week and her name is now Sky. It was so bittersweet for me. She had her feed in the morning and then went out to her paddock with her pony for her hay. That was her typical day.

Then it was time to get her ready for her trip. We went to her Paddock to get her, she was happy as could be to come to us but then she realized her pony was not with her and she knew something was wrong. From the moment she arrived she has been with her pony. We rinsed her down and tended to her cut before her trip. There was a definitely sadness in her.

I just wish there was a way I could tell her that she was NOT going back to where she came from.. It broke my heart. When she was in the trailer she just looked at me with such hurt in her eyes.. Then she looked away.. straight ahead and she looked so scared and so disappointed. Even as I write this, so many days later, I cry thinking of the look in her eyes.. I knew where she was going.. I knew she was about to meet her forever Mom and have s WONDERFUL life. I knew she was about get more love than any horse could get.. I knew.. but she didn't. All she knew was she was being loaded on the trailer that took her away from that Hell, she was in alone, without her pony and for all she knew she was going back to where she came from...Her eyes tell it all

AS she left I followed her... I went to the end of the driveway and as her trailer pulled out in front of the Paddock where her pony was she let out a big whinnie to him. The picture I missed was right after this shot he lifted up his head and turned toward the trailer and whinnied back.. as if to say.. Goodbye my friend...

But unlike many horses this girl and her story have a very happy ending, well actually a beginning. She is with her Mom, Betsey now and she is doing very well.. I spoke to Betsey today and she told me what a sweet filly she is, and she is, but by Betsey telling me that it told me that Sky is happy, she is not afraid. Betsey is the woman who originally found Sky in that awful place and now they will spend the rest of their lives together bulding great memories and one day Sky will forget everything that once hurt her..
