Fitch fought his potential abductors and by doing so he saved the life of his brother Abercrombie. Unfortunately Fitch could not recover from the injuries he received from these cruel and heartless people and he succumbed.
Fitch lost his battle for life on March 5, 2007 at 11:56pm at the University of Georgia. Rest in Peace Dear Brave Fitch... For you we will continue to fight!!!

A very special THANK YOU to the Stanton's who not only gave Go Smarty Go a wonderful second chapter, made the responsible decision to no longer race him but also allowed us to have the honor of finishing his rehabilitation and getting him ready for his next phase.

Go Smarty Go arrived in style and was warmly welcome by people from Pure Thoughts, the Stanton's and friends on theirs. We did not make this public knowledge because we his welcome to be calm for him.
He immediately met Brave & Skillful and they took an immediate liking to one another. Possibly there were a few conversations on who was faster because there were a few snorts but after that they were immediate friends.

Go Smarty Go, Son of Smarty Jones, 2004 Kentucky Derby Winner, Arrives at Pure Thoughts Inc. Thoroughbred Rehab
|
Loxahatchee, FL - April 7, 2009 -- On March 29, 2009, Go Smarty Go arrived at Pure Thoughts Inc.'s expanded OTTB (Off Track Thoroughbred) Rehab and Placement division.
Go Smarty Go is the son of 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Smarty Jones, out of the Holy Bull mare Sarah's World. Smarty Jones was the first undefeated horse to win the Kentucky Derby since Seattle Slew in 1977, and would later be joined by Barbaro. Smarty Jones almost didn't make it to the Kentucky Derby as he was seriously injured in a training accident in the fall of his 2 year old season. Smarty Jones was treated for a fractured skull and eye socket by Dr. Patricia Hogan. His eye was saved and he went on to come within a couple lengths of winning the Triple Crown.
Go Smarty Go had a similar event occur after breaking his maiden at Belmont Park in his first race, as a 2 year old in September of 2008. After just missing breaking the track record in a 7 furlong maiden special weight on the turf by 4/5ths of a second, Go Smarty Go fractured his cannon bone. Dr. Patricia Hogan, who had saved his sire, also operated on Go Smarty Go and after a successful rehabilitation, the owners decided to retire him.
Go Smarty Go will continue his rehabilitation at Pure Thoughts and will one day be adopted into a forever home. After his rehabilitation, he will begin his training to be a riding horse. You will be able to watch Go Smarty Go progress on the Pure Thoughts website at https://www.purethoughtshorserescue.com/ottbdivision/gosmartygo.php
Brad Gaver, co-founder of Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse & Foal Rescue commented, "Go Smarty Go is a young and curious horse. He is having a great time just being a horse and getting to know everyone. We keep him in a smaller paddock so that he does not hurt himself but he is able to turn out with his newfound friend Brave & Skillful. His owners were here when he arrived and it was a very emotional reunion. They truly love Go Smarty Go and were there with his favorite: peppermints. The medical care they provided for Go Smarty Go saved his life and ensured he would go on to live a long healthy life. We will help Go Smarty Go move onto his next chapter. We are honored."
