Fitch

Fitch fought his potential abductors and by doing so he saved the life of his brother Abercrombie.
Unfortunately Fitch could not recover from the injuries he received from these cruel and heartless people and he succumbed. Fitch lost his battle for life on March 5, 2007 at 11:56pm at the University of Georgia.
Rest in Peace Dear Brave Fitch... For you we will continue to fight!!!

BREEZE

Breeze is a permanent resident of Cozee Valee Farms where she will live out her life. Breeze will be in forever need of extra special care and treatment which is why she will always have the Pure Thoughts "umbrella of help" over her so that funds may be donated for her care. We thank Cozee Valee Farms for opening up their barn and their hearts to Breeze ..... and her unexpected Baby..

BREEZE is the newest member of our family. She is a 10 yr old pinto mare and she is about 14.2 hands. A few months ago Breeze was left at the Sugar Creek Auction in Ohio. It was apparent she had foundered and maybe that is why she was just left there. I was contacted and told her ransom (thank you Jen at Pure Thoughts) had been paid but, she had no where to go. I was asked if it was possible for Cozee Valee to give her a loving home, we said yes and graciously accepted to bring her into our family :) A very nice woman by the name of Rachael (thank you Rachael) offered to house Breeze until we could get her home. Little did we know it would take 2 months to finally get her hauled her from West Virginia! Breeze arrived at Cozee Valee on the afternoon of July 9th, thanks to Laurie Masters from Horsemasters. This mare is prettier in person than she is in the pictures. We allowed Breeze to settle in for a few days. She was seen by our vet on Wed. She passed her vet check with flying colors. She was given all her vaccines, we decided on a de-worming program for her and discussed her founder situation. During the examination we were ecstatic to find out that Breeze is expecting a baby !! Both our vets figured she is around 4-5 months along so, we are looking at a winter baby. We will know more when they get their ultra sound machine, I am hoping we can get a picture :) Breeze has an appointment with our farrier on July 24th so we will know more about how bad her founder was/is at that time. I will be sure to add that information. Breeze is a pure dream to work around and she nickers to me all the time. She seems to have taken a liking to our son, Bryan and he seems to really like her as well. Right now Breeze is in quarantine. Once that time is up she will be able to pampered even more as we move her into the big barn where she can get used to her new stall and get comfortable before she is ready to foal. Thank you to Stephany of Celtic Rein Equine Rescue for sending out a care package for Breeze and her baby to be, we should be getting it soon :) I will keep adding more updated picture as time goes on. I will also keep updating her page as we go along. Please keep Breeze and her little bundle of joy in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!!

UPDATE: 8-21-06 Breeze seems to be doing very well :) She is still in her stall so she is getting quite bored! I am still cleaning her feet out as many times as possible through out the day. I am still spraying her feet with iodine/dmso mix. It is funny because she knows how often I come out to the barn and she expects a flake of hay each time.....LOL! She is quite vocal and she let's me know when she is not happy. Breeze is a very good girl and never gives me trouble with everything I have to do to her. I was told by Rachael that Breeze was not too happy about having her teats touched in any way. Well the first time I tried, she did indeed swing around with a nasty snake face and try to bite me! That did not fly with me so we have been working on this issue. The problem was she was rubbed raw between her teats ad it was very sore. I have since cleaned that area very well and put some Neosporin on the area and it seems to be doing a lot better. I do mess with her teats every single day and she is so much better about it now :) This is something that must be done now as we have no clue what the future brings with her having this baby. If I need to get up under there, I don't want her ripping my head off! I was very happy many days ago when Breeze decided she wanted to take a walk out of the barn!! This poor mare had no interest what so ever in going out of the barn for quite a long time. It was just too painful for her. Now we take small little walks through the yard to keep her from going stir crazy! My farrier will be out on the 28th and we will take another look at Breeze's feet. So far, knock wood she seems to be holding her own and feeling pretty good. I do know as I have said before, that could change over night but, we are praying things keep going in the same direction. I am starting to see a bit more of a belly on Miss Breeze :) Maintaining her weight is a huge issue and it is something I keep a very close eye on. We will palpate Breeze in October along with giving her an ultra sound, I am so excited!! Hopefully this will give us a better picture of when her foal is due. Please continue to keep Breeze and her baby in your prayers, it sure is appreciated. Thank you!! *PS* THANK YOU to Jen from Pure Thoughts for sending Breeze a beautiful set of Rhythm Beads, she looks gorgeous wearing them :) THANK YOU to Stephany and the horses from Celtic Rein Equine Rescue for sending Breeze a wonderful care package. Breeze was a lucky girl and received many items that she will enjoy :)

UPDATE: 9-29-06 Miss Breeze is doing rather well. She has been out to pasture as much as the weather allows. I must admit, it is great seeing her out getting some fresh air and out of that stall! My farrier had to cancel for Monday so we will reschedule to have Breeze done next week. Her feet seem to be growing and so far she seems to be doing fine being out. She is now getting quite the belly. I have to call Monday to make her ultra sound appointment *YaY*! There really is not a whole lot more to say at this time, other than Weezy is quite spoiled and does not like to be off schedule at all. Once my farrier has been here I will be taking new pictures and updating again. Thank you for reading and keeping Breeze and her baby in your thoughts and prayers :)
